Can't you just smell it??? I had to share this because it's probably the one and only fruit pie I have ever made that didn't bomb on me. Granted, I didn't toil overly much on the crust, but who am I to question ready-made? Besides, it looks better than anything I might have done! The pie itself is apple-cranberry, well Craisins actually, but I can attest to the fact that it tastes as good as it looks and the whole house smells like pie. Yum. Rich is off in pursuit of Vanilla ice cream because I killed the last of the Cool Whip when I had my slice.
The reason for this little burp of domesticity (is that a word?) is that we just finished peeling, coring, slicing and chopping three grocery bags of apples that I received from a friend of mine. We now have 26 quarts of apples in the freezer all ready for pies, crisps, cobblers etc. I thought about making apple butter with some of them but by the time we finished all the peeling etc I was happy to see them in bags. Wouldn't you?
Now, I'm going to enjoy the rest of my Sunday! Josh and Laura are on their way (he worked today and is picking her up on his way home) so I also need to remove the "hag" mask and pull myself together before they get here. Hope I have enough time...
