Happy New Year!

We hope that you all had a very merry Christmas! All in all, I'd have to say our holidays were pretty nice. We had the pleasure of having Mom here for a few days over Christmas, several days of vacation all bunched together, fairly decent weather, and Santa was good to all of us. I think the only downside - other than having family members scattered hither and yon- is the cold virus that both Rich and I managed to catch. Not sure why that is, I certainly didn't have my hand up! Anyway, we're slogging our way through it. Lovely way to spend the last few days of your vacation, let me tell you.
Tomorrow we're wrapping up the last of our Christmas gatherings with friends and after that the tree comes down. It's pretty crunchy so it's definitely time for a walk to the boulevard. The rest of the decorations will follow suit though, I didn't put as many out this year as I have in the past so it won't take long. Lois and Lana will no doubt be wondering where their prickly friend has gone, but to be honest, if I have to chase them out from under there one more time I'm likely to go ballistic. Thankfully, we've only had 2 casualties which was a surprise considering how determined they are to play with the ornaments. I saved everyone the joy of cleaning up kitty uck by leaving the ribbons off all the packages. We'll see if I can graduate to bows next year.
Monday we're all back to work and school for (gasp!) a full 5 day week. I figure by Wednesday I'll have waded through all the crisis projects that have arisen in my absence, and will feel like I might accomplish something useful by Friday. I made the mistake of checking my email last night so I already have an inkling of what awaits my return. Likewise, Rich knows he has over 100 emails to sift through when he gets back (he decided to join us for a week off this week) so I am sure he's as thrilled about Monday morning as I am. Oh well... that's the price you pay I guess.
Well, my dust bunnies are calling so I'd better start chasing them. Important guests coming tomorrow you know...
Happy New Year everyone! Here's hoping 2009 is a little brighter than all the predictions!
