Joshua's Confirmation Day

Thank you to everyone who was able to attend Joshua's confirmation today! We all appreciate your coming and I know that Josh was pleased to see all of you. For those who were unable to attend, I've posted a few photos from the afternoon and have included a few excerpts from our ceremony Message. Our Pastor and Director of Youth Ministries used Dr. Seuss' to deliver their message which, may seem a bit odd, but in reality was my favorite part of the ceremony. I think that's because the quirky way that Seuss wrote fits Josh and his personality so well. In any event, below are some of the key points:

Congratulations! Today is your day.You’re off to Great Places! You’re off and away!
“Wherever you fly, you’ll be best of the best. Wherever you go, you will top all the rest.”

“Except when you don’t. Because, sometimes you won’t.
Fame! You’ll be famous as famous can be, With the whole wide world watching you win on TV.”

“I’m afraid that some times You’ll play lonely games too. Games you can’t win ‘cause you’ll play against you.”

“You’re off to Great Places! Today is your day! Your mountain is waiting. So . . .get on your way!

Most of the photos are self-explanatory, but the one of the drawing is a shot of Josh's Expression of Faith project. After a few false-starts he chose to draw Jesus on the cross. Without sounding overly biased, I have to say the kid's got talent. This was the result of 30 minutes of work the day before it was due. Nothing like a little pressure to encourage the creative spirit...
